Ever wondered what’s inside the cabinets placed at regular intervals in road tunnels? Well, one of the uses is to house the Hydrant system to supply charged water close to a potential fire. At Eltham Tunnel on the A2 in London, Dry Risers Direct Flow and Pressure tested the valves recording a Flow rate of over 1700LPM and a static pressure of just short of 6 Bar. The tunnels are closed to traffic from 11p.m to 5 a.m on Sunday nights to allow for regular maintenance.
